My Story

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

I am riding in memory of Miles Shanaghan. I wanted to share my personal outlook on the reason for this fundraiser. I don’t believe in focusing on the negative but true statistics of pediatric cancer. Rather I want to acknowledge the children who have gone through it and who they are. It is truly remarkable how strong these children are throughout their battles. The only thing that amazes me more is how bright and loving they are. Spending time with miles was never difficult he was always such a beautiful soul and genuinely lit up whatever room he was in. I remember times when he would come into my room to play a game with no purpose or story to it. You simply walk around on a scenic planet. He would want to stay as long as possible to just enjoy the scenery. I wish I would have soaked it in a bit longer. Those times are one of the fondest memories I have in my life and I’m not sure what I did to deserve to experience such a kind soul. Despite the card that got dealt to these children they continue to rise above and consume everyone around them in every ounce of love they can muster. I don’t think I will create waves in the community but I will do my best to help. I appreciate anyone that is in the position to be able to donate to research. If not I still appreciate any interaction I have and it’s wonderful to bring awareness to the subject. I encourage everyone to take a look at their life and truly understand the beauty that is around us even in the darkest places. Thank you
