My Story

23 Jul 2026

Hi everyone,

I have been riding this event for many years to raise money for research in the fight against childhood cancer. This year I will ride at least 200 miles in the month of September for this cause. Please donate if you can in order to help learn more about how to treat and beat these cancers. I really like this charity because they are bare bones (basically a small group of people and a website) so the big majority of the money raised actually gets where it is supposed to.

My team Opa! (John Davis, Steve Storgion, and I) are riding with the memory of our young friend Maggie in mind. She battled cancer bravely. Please keep her and her family in your heart and let's do our best to put an end stories like Maggie's.

Thank you.

“Hoping you can do more than the 300... for those less fortunate than us. This week is Ragbrai week in Iowa. The 53rd annual Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI LIII) it is taking place right now July 18–25, 2026. I did it 3 years ago when it was 500 miles in 7 days. This year features the shortest route in the event's history at 391 miles, beginning in Onawa and wrapping up at the Field of Dreams I’m thinking your goal of 300 should be raised significantly. After all you are younger than me. I would love to pay for 500 miles instead of 300. Get er done! YitB, Woody”

“Wow. Thanks Woody, I have ridden RAGBRAI twice. I had a blast. I even met John Karras who was one of the founders. Thanks to you I have already met my lame goal of $500 so I will probably step it up. You can follow me in September. Or you can join the team. You were Greek in college so that could kind of count. Thanks so much for the donation. YitB TV”

“Wow. Thanks Lori. I am so grateful for you and your support over the years. I'll be riding with my little Greek team again that includes my cousin John Davis (you remember him from high school I'm sure). Thanks to you I have already met my weenie little goal so I think I am going to have to step it up and try a higher one. Anyway, I appreciate it and will think of you in September. Tom”
